This presentation redraws the map of global capital flows and considers the role of cross-border financing and tax havens.
The research by Antonio Coppola (Harvard), Matteo Maggiori (Stanford), Brent Neiman (Chicago) and Jesse Schreger (Colombia) explores how capital flows from large developing investors, such as the US, to emerging markets. It asks questions like “What role do subsidiaries play?” or “What proportion of corporate sector’s bond financing from developed markets flows thorough tax havens?” It also shows how official statistics poorly reflect risk exposures.
Regrettably no slides are available for this presentation, but the video explains all.
