The University of Pretoria, in conjunction with the South African Reserve Bank, DFiD (UK Aid), the Economic & Social Research Council and Economic Research Southern Africa, are hosting an Economics and Research Policy Workshop on “Politics, Finance and Growth”. Presentations are expected from Svetlana Andrianova, Panicos Demetriades, David Fielding, Robert Lensink and Peter Rousseau, amongst others. The foci will include lending in Africa, financial fragility, financial underdevelopment, financial inclusivity and economic growth, as well as a new international database on financial fragility; see Andrianova et al.
