Jacques de Jongh

Jacques graduated at the North West University – Vaal Triangle campus in 2014 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics and International Trade. After the completion of his undergraduate studies he enrolled in the Economic Sciences honours programme in which he then graduated with a Honours (B.Com) in Economics in 2015. During his undergraduate and post- graduate courses he was fortunate enough to graduate at the top of his class and in the process being awarded the academic award for best performer in the Bachelor of Commerce programme at the University.

Jacques is currently studying towards a Masters of Commerce degree in Economics through the Department of Economic Sciences and Information Technology at the North West University: Vaal Triangle Campus which he now also calls his work place. He was appointed as a junior lecturer in Economics at the start of 2016 where he will be teaching first year economics and start his career as a professional academic. He is passionate about the academic life and his main research interests are aimed at Macro Economics, Development Economics, Local Economic Development, Economic Policy Formulation and Unemployment.

Jacques’ goal is to, through his research; help better understand the unique economic development challenges facing the South African economy on national and local level and to use this knowledge to contribute to a more effective economic policy landscape that will see more South Africans find their way into the workplace and ultimately, a better quality of life.
