Geci Karuri-Sebina is an Associate Professor at Wits University’s Southern Centre for Inequality Studies, and coordinator of the Africa Civic Tech Innovation Network. She also serves as the ICESCO Chair on Innovation and Futures in Africa. Geci considers herself a scholar-practitioner with interests at the intersections between people, place, technology, and time.
She is widely recognised and published in the fields of development policy, planning and governance; emerging technologies and socio-technical change; and the disciplines of anticipation. Geci holds undergraduate degrees in Computer Science and Sociology (Iowa); dual Masters degrees in Architecture and in Urban Planning from UCLA; and a PhD in planning and innovation studies from Wits University.
