Ann Bernstein is the founder and executive director of the Centre for Development and Enterprise. Since its establishment in 1995, CDE has become a powerful national resource for research-based policy direction and big ideas on topics including economic growth, unemployment, skills and the role of business and markets in development. Ann has written extensively on these issues, vigorously advocating for reform where required.
With a wide network of international and South African experts, she hosts CDE Conversations with global and local leaders and experts; and she and CDE regularly convene discussions on vital national issues across traditional divides. Ann is a frequent commentator on leading media platforms, participates in national and global dialogues, is the editor and often co-author of many CDE publications and is the author of The Case for Business in Developing Economies (Penguin 2010).
