Peter C. Smith is an Emeritus Professor at the Centre for Health Economics, at the University of York. He is a mathematics graduate from the University of Oxford and started his academic career in the public health department at the University of Cambridge. His main research interests are in the finance and efficiency of health systems, with a special emphasis on the link between research evidence and policy. Current interests include health system modeling; measuring and improving health system productivity; and universal health coverage. Peter has acted in numerous UK governmental advisory capacities and is currently chair of the NHS Advisory Committee on Resource Allocation.
