Even though universal access to electricity has been among the leading development goals, more than 600 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa remain without access to electricity. With electricity infrastructure planning decisions often being aided by tools designed to predict electricity demand in areas, demand-side constraints matter. In this webinar, Agnieszka Postepska (University of Groningen) explores the following questions using survey data from Burkina Faso:
- How can we predict electricity demand in areas currently off the grid?
- How can we measure willingness to pay for both connection, and monthly use of the grid?
- How important is high-quality electricity service and what impact does it have on willingness to pay?
- What impact does this have on revenue?
