SAMNet
The South African Modelling Network (SAMNet), is our platform that advances the development and sharing of modelling tools for South Africa’s economy, currently focusing primarily on monetary and financial stability. It is born from the idea of keeping South Africa apace with macroeconomic developments at the global level by pooling resources and connecting national policy and academic research with global trends. We do this through three pillars: model development, code sharing, and training. It promotes new tools for policymakers, facilitates code sharing among economists, and offers workshops and training sessions for local and international participants. SAMNET fosters a collaborative community where members can discuss and develop modelling techniques, enhancing economic forecasting capabilities in the country. Participants are encouraged to join this network, both by attending workshops and by sharing and discussing their coding and modelling frameworks.
Should you be interested in finding resources from our previous SAMNet Workshops, please find them under past events.
