Prof Russel Viljoen is a professor of History at the University of South Africa with the field of specialization in Early and colonial societies at the Cape, South Africa, Medical history and history of the disease (especially smallpox), Khoikhoi and colonial identities and Khoikhoi music and art. He obtained a Ph.D. from Leiden University.
