Precious Zikhali

Precious Zikhali is a Poverty Economist at the World Bank. She currently supports the poverty and inequality work program of the Bank covering Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, and Swaziland. Prior to joining the Bank in 2013, she was a Director of Environmental Economics in the Microeconomic Policy Unit within the Economic Policy Division, National Treasury of South Africa where she was involved in inter-departmental efforts to incorporate green growth policies into the country’s broader sustainable development agenda. Precious Zikhali holds a Ph.D. in Economics (with a specialization in Environmental Economics) from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden and her current research interests broadly include theoretical and applied empirical research that falls at the intersection of poverty, environment, and development. This includes issues such as Poverty analysis; Policy, program, and project impact evaluation; Agriculture, food security, and poverty alleviation; Bio-economic modeling of renewable and non-renewable natural resource management.
