Karissa Moothoo-Padayachie

Awardee affiliation: The University of KwaZulu-Natal

Karissa Moothoo-Padayachie was born in Port Elizabeth on the 13 December 1989 and is the youngest of three daughters. Her family moved to Durban where she matriculated with merit at Danville Park Girls’ High School in 2007. She went on to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce Degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Westville Campus) majoring in Economics and Finance. Her keen interest in Economics led her to register for a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree in Economics and graduated Summa Cum Laude. During her honours year she tutored Macroeconomics. She is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Economics.
