Ernest is currently doing his Master’s in Econometrics at the University of Pretoria (UP). He completed his Bachelor’s in Econometrics in 2013, with distinction, which was then followed by an Honours degree in Econometrics in 2014. Both qualifications were obtained from UP. He also attained an Advanced Certificate in Emerging Markets and Country Risk Analysis from Fordham University, New York.
In addition to being an assistant lecturer at the UP department of economics, he has work experience in Competition and Applied Behavioural Economics.
He is largely interested in Behavioural Economics; the greatest driver of this interest being the need to incorporate behavioural tenets within a ‘traditional economics’ framework to define alternative descriptive theories. He also finds himself drawn to exploring the social impacts of economic outcomes. His honours paper explored the intertemporal distribution of tobacco expenditure burdens and assessed its implications on poverty alleviation.
Ernest intends on becoming an academic economist after completing a PhD.
