Andrew Donaldson is a senior research associate of the Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit at the University of Cape Town. He is a consultant to the Association for Savings and Investment of SA, and advises on social security, health financing, infrastructure investment and macroeconomic policy.
He is a former Deputy Director-General of the National Treasury, responsible for the Budget Office and Public Finance, and served as the inaugural head of the Government Technical Advisory Centre (GTAC). He serves on the Investment Committee of the Jobs Fund and is a former member of the Board of the South African National Roads Agency and a former trustee of the Government Employees’ Pension Fund.
