Dynamic CGE Modelling Training Workshop

23 January 2014
Event type: Workshop
JEL Code: C68
Event date: 23 June 2014, 4:00pm
to 27 June 2014, 5:00pm

A five day intensive course in dynamic CGE modelling will be presented by Professors Peter Dixon and Maurine Rimmer from the Centre of Policy Studies in Melbourne. They are world leaders in the field and will be visiting South Africa for the first time.

They will use their model of the American economy during the practical sessions in the course, but delegates will also receive a copy of a South African dynamic model and simulate realistic South African policy scenarios with it during the course week. Differently put, delegates will work with two different models and gain valuable experience in practical policy modelling in a hands-on manner.

Number of participants: The number of participants will be limited to 20 – the size of the computer lab.

Funding: Travel expenses in South Africa as well as accommodation in Pretoria will be provided by ERSA where applicable.

Requirements: A static CGE course is strongly recommended as prerequisite for this dynamic course. Participants must apply for a place in the course by writing a brief letter to motivate why they should be chosen for the course. We would like to know what your current knowledge and experience is with regard to CGE modelling and why you would like to take the course. What do you intend to do with the acquired dynamic CGE modelling skills after the course?

Please forward your application letters to Prof Jan van Heerden at jan.vanheerden@up.ac.za as soon as possible.
