Workshop Background: Macroeconomic policy in emerging markets is facing the multiple challenges of an uncertain global environment, high world interest rates, and a limited fiscal space after unprecedented global shocks. At the same time emerging markets are becoming increasingly important both as determinants of the world economic outlook and centres of policy innovation and experimentation.
The 3rd Macroeconomic Policy in Emerging Markets Workshop is dedicated to exploring and discussing research on the challenges to macroeconomic policy in emerging markets, the policy options available to them and the best ways to inform and monitor policy.
Hélène Rey (London Business School and CEPR) will be the keynote speaker of the conference.
We invite PhD students from South African Universities to showcase your research through a poster session during this workshop. Posters will be selected from individual papers and extended abstracts from PhD theses. For inspiration, check out the AEA Poster Session Videos, featuring insightful interviews with select 2023 poster presenters.
