Economic Research Southern Africa (ERSA) would like to invite participants to the eighth workshop of the ERSA Economic History Research Group. The aim of the Workshop will be to investigate and discuss the use of Geographic Information Systems in a historical context. For this purpose, we have invited Alexander Moradi of the University of Sussex to provide a short but intense overview of GIS applications and their usefulness to economic history questions. Each participant will also be required to present a possible paper idea (present a new dataset or interesting research question, for example) where the use of GIS may be relevant.
