Lauralyn joined the International Economic Partnership (IEP) Programme in April 2025 as the Deputy Team Leader, where she supports the coordination of research, policy engagement, and strategic partnerships to advance inclusive and sustainable industrial development in South Africa.
She is a trained economist with a Master’s in Development Economics and +10 years of experience spanning academic research, economic consulting, and strategic advisory. Lauralyn began her professional journey at the Centre for Competition, Regulation and Economic Development (CCRED), where she developed a strong foundation in industrial policy and evidence-based research. She went on to spend five years at DNA Economics, rising through the consulting ranks while leading and contributing to projects on industrial policy, climate change, and monitoring and evaluation.
Her time at EY further sharpened her leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement capabilities across both public and private sector clients. She has since returned to DNA Economics, bringing back a broadened skill set and a commitment to high-impact, policy-relevant work.
Over the course of her career, Lauralyn has delivered close to 40 projects across the region and contributed to both national and international policy platforms. She has also authored several conference papers and co-authored two book chapters with Oxford University Press and HSRC Press.
