Heinrich Nel

Awardee affiliation: North West University

Heinrich completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Economics (Cum Laude) degree at the North-West University, Potchefstroom campus in 2014. In 2015 he completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in Risk Management (Cum Laude) at the Potchefstroom campus of the North-West University. He graduated with distinction from the North-West University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics, Risk- and Investment Management. This has granted him exposure to an extensive array of various economic- and financial concepts and allowed him to become familiar with the most pressing economic- and financial issues of the day. Heinrich has consistently been a top academic achiever in his class and was awarded the North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus School of Economics floating trophy for being the best Honours Economics student in his class in 2014.

Heinrich has an immense interest in financial- and development economics as well as time-series econometrics. Not only do these principles form an integral part of his current research focus, but they were also crucial elements of his Economics honours research project in 2014 for which he received the best grade in his class. This research project is currently in the process of being submitted for publication in a reputable academic journal.

Upon completion of his Master’s degree, Heinrich intends to further his studies and pursue a PhD in Economics and thereby acquiring the necessary tools for solving some of the most urgent socioeconomic issues facing developing countries today.
