Person Type: Awardee

Awardee affiliation: University of the Witwatersrand

I am currently pursuing my Masters in Economic Science, quantitatively orientated at the University of the Witwatersrand. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Economics in 2013, followed by my honours in Economic Science in 2014, all obtained at the University of the Witwatersrand.

My research area is macro-based and focuses mainly on interest rate and exchange rate impacts which are heavily based on quantitative analysis, econometrics and statistical modelling. I’ve had the privilege of assisting 3 lecturers in their research, one being the assistant dean of economics at the University of the Witwatersrand and I have had the pleasure of having the head of economics supervise me on my honours research for which I received a distinction.

My future goal is to become an innovative economist that can make a different to the South African economy as well as helping underprivileged children, which is something dear to my heart. I hope to give back to South Africa and potentially pursue my PhD.
