Friedrich is a Master’s student of Economics at Stellenbosch University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce with Law Subjects in 2012, followed by an Honours degree in Economics in 2013. Having completed all of the required coursework for his Master’s degree in 2013, Friedrich is currently sharpening his skills in econometrics, computational economics and real economics at the University of Zurich in Switzerland.

Friedrich is a micro-oriented researcher and is currently testing different models of household behaviour on South African data. Aside from intra-household decision making, Friedrich is primarily interested in labour economics, development economics, experimental economics, computational economics, DSGE modelling and structural modelling. He thoroughly enjoys empirical work and deriving data specific testable conditions from economic theory.

After his studies, Friedrich hopes to become a research economist focusing on the extension of economic theory and the empirical application thereof.
