Caroline Stapleton

Caroline Stapleton is an aspiring development economist with a particular interest in human capital development and labour economics. Caroline graduated from the University of Cape Town with First Class Honours in Economics in 2011 and thereafter began working as a Research Analyst at the Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), Africa office. At J-PAL, Caroline managed a research project concerning the impact of Early Childhood Development (ECD) on children’s human capital development as well as parental labour market outcomes. Through her Master’s degree in Economics, Caroline plans to further explore the skills gap in South Africa, focusing on school dropout, teenage pregnancy and ECD policy as a potential mitigating factor.
