Call for papers: 2nd ERSA/CEPR Workshop on Macroeconomic Policy in Emerging Markets

Background and Objective: Macroeconomic policy in emerging markets is facing multiple challenges in an uncertain global environment, increasing world interest rates and a limited fiscal space after unprecedented global shocks. At the same time emerging markets are becoming increasingly important both as determinants of the world economic outlook and centers of policy innovation and experimentation.

The 2nd ERSA/CEPR Workshop on Macroeconomic Policy in Emerging Markets is dedicated to exploring and discussing research on the challenges to macroeconomic policy in emerging markets, the policy options available to them and the instruments to be developed to inform and monitor policy.

We invite submissions on a broad range of topics related to macroeconomic policies in emerging markets. Among others, themes of interest are:

  • Conventional and unconventional monetary policy
  • Fiscal policy
  • Fiscal and Monetary policy coordination
  • Spillovers from advanced economies
  • Spillovers to advanced economies
  • Debt sustainability and consolidation
  • Capital flow management policies
  • Macro-prudential policies
  • New data and new methods for policy making in emerging markets
  • Exchange rate determination
  • Policy credibility
  • Distributional effects of policymaking

 

Submissions: The deadline for submissions is Monday, 20 November 2023 (18:00 GMT). Only papers submitted by the deadline will be considered. Notification of acceptance will be given by 1st December 2023. In case of coauthored papers, submitting authors will be expected to present at the conference. Travel and accommodation expenses for academic speakers on the programme will be covered based on CEPR travel guidelines. The Conference is sponsored by the South African Reserve Bank and the Banco Central de Chile.

Authors who already have a CEPR HUB profile can upload their submission by:

  1. Going to https://hub.cepr.org/ and logging in
  2. After you have logged in, go to https://hub.cepr.org/event/4132
  3. Click on “Step 1: Apply”
  4. Under “Apply to Attend” click “Yes”
  5. Tick the boxes that apply to you
  6. Tick “Would you like to submit a paper?”, upload your paper and supply the requested information
  7. Click “Submit form” to make the submission

Authors who do not have a CEPR HUB profile can upload their submission by:

  2. After you have logged in, go to https://hub.cepr.org/event/4132
  3. Click on “Step 1: Apply”
