"Co-Pierre Georg is an Old Mutual Emerging Markets Lecturer at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business. He also is a Collaborating Research Scholar at Keble College, Oxford University and a Research Associate at Deutsche Bundesbank. Before joining UCT, Co-Pierre was a Research Economist at Deutsche Bundesbank and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University Carlos III de Madrid. He obtained his PhD in 2011 from the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena where he also spent a semester as a visiting scholar at the New York University Stern School of Business.

Current research includes the long term effects of the trans-Atlantic slave trades on political and economic development in Africa. He was formerly a Lecturer at the State University of New York at Binghamton and is a regular contributor to various policy oriented think tanks in Nigeria.
